What Is a Dental Implant?

Missing teeth can cause discomfort, embarrassment, and difficulty eating and speaking. Gaps in your smile may also lead to bone loss, shifting teeth, and changes in your facial appearance over time. Fortunately, dental implants offer a permanent solution to these challenges.

A dental implant consists of three parts: the titanium post that acts as a tooth root, the abutment that connects the implant to the restoration, and the custom crown that looks and functions like a natural tooth. At Da Vinci Dental in Warminster, PA, we specialize in restoring smiles with dental implants, and our experienced team makes the process seamless and stress-free, ensuring that you leave with a confident, long-lasting smile!

Custom Smile Solutions Built for Your Smile Needs

Single Dental Implants

Single dental implants are perfect for replacing one missing tooth, providing a natural look and function. The titanium post integrates with your jawbone, offering a stable foundation for the custom-made crown. Single implants blend in with the rest of your smile and prevent shifting of the surrounding teeth.

Dental Bridges

Dental bridges replace one or more missing teeth by anchoring an artificial tooth (or teeth) to the natural teeth on either side of the gap. They restore the appearance of a full smile, improve chewing ability, and prevent remaining teeth from shifting out of place. Dental bridges can be a durable and effective option for maintaining oral function and aesthetics with proper care.

Implant-Supported Dentures

Implant-supported dentures provide more stability than traditional dentures by using dental implants to anchor the prosthetic. This means no more slipping or discomfort; they look and feel like natural teeth. Implant-supported dentures eliminate the need for temporary adhesives and don’t shift during wear.

Full Mouth Dental Implants

Full arch dental implants provide a stable and permanent solution for patients missing a row of teeth by securing a complete set of prosthetic teeth onto just a few implants. Unlike traditional dentures, full arch implants fuse with the jawbone, offering strength and stability like natural teeth. This allows patients to eat, speak, and smile confidently. This option improves functionality and preserves jawbone health, preventing bone loss and maintaining facial structure.

Zygomatic Implants

Zygomatic implants are ideal for patients with severe bone loss in the upper jaw. Instead of being placed in the jawbone like traditional implants, these are placed in the cheekbone (zygoma), providing a stable solution when other methods may not be viable. If you have been told you are not a candidate for traditional dental implants, zygomatic implants could be your solution!

A Brand-New Smile In Four Simple Steps

Consult & Planning

The first step in your dental implant treatment is a comprehensive consultation with our experienced team. During this visit, we will assess your oral health, take advanced 3D images, and discuss your specific goals for your smile. Based on these findings, we create a personalized treatment plan that details every step of the process.

We will also review dental implant costs and explain financing options to help make your treatment as affordable as possible. This thorough planning ensures your dental implants are placed with precision and care, giving you the best possible outcome.

Procedure & Same-Day Teeth

On the day of your procedure, we will begin by making a small incision in your gums to access the underlying bone and place the implant posts. Depending on your individual needs, you may require preliminary procedures such as bone grafting or extractions to remove unsalvageable teeth or create a more stable foundation for your implants. We will then insert each implant post into your jawbone at an angle to ensure optimal support.

After placing the implants, we will attach an abutment connector and place temporary teeth on top. We can usually provide lightweight restorations for full mouth dental implants within 24 hours of your surgery, allowing you to return to your normal routine while your implants heal!

Follow-Up Appointment

A few weeks after your dental implants have been placed, we’ll invite you back for a follow-up appointment. During this visit, we check your healing progress and ensure the implants integrate well with your jawbone.

If any adjustments to your temporary restorations are needed, we’ll make them to improve your comfort. We also take this opportunity to answer questions and monitor your oral health. This follow-up ensures that your implants are on track for a strong and stable foundation.

Healing & Final Restorations

The healing process, called osseointegration, takes several months as the implants fuse with your jawbone to create a stable base for your new teeth. Once the implants have fully integrated, you will return to our office for your final restorations.

These custom-made crowns, bridges, or full arch prosthetics are designed to match your natural teeth’ shape, color, and size. After placement, you’ll enjoy a fully restored smile that looks and feels like your teeth, allowing you to eat, speak, and smile confidently!
